<image:caption>This is an insert developed by us (patent pending) that goes into the carousal. It stops one or more balls from entering the launcher allowing the frequency of the balls to be 1-2-3-pause or 1-2-pause-pause. This is great if you want to use the ball machine to practice a baseline-approach-volley sequence and have time to run to the baseline to start over or limit the chances of partners hitting each other!</image:caption>

<image:caption>One of the problems is that the ball machine launches the ball from a few inches off the ground. This obviously does not simulate a variety of shots well. So to simulate typical ground or dink shots I put the machine on a 13” table and a kitchen carousal to make aiming the balls simpler! So to simulate volley shots I put the machine on a cool table using the Diadem™ Ball hopper stand and a top made from 24” x 24” PLA 1/2” plastic with holes in the correct location. The hopper makes it easy to move around the court without any marks! This is the PERFECT height to speed up your net game! WE SELL THE HOPPER AND THE BALLS. <image:title>Modding the Tutor Spin - Adding a remote!</image:title>
<image:caption>I did not want to pay $200 for a remote. So I added a simple one off Amazon. This is great for STOPPING the carousal, but has been less effective at starting it (because the carousal does a quick voltage surge to get started). But it has been useful to turn the carousal on/off quickly and not the machine. This does require cutting wires and opening up the machine!</image:caption>

<image:title>Return of Serve Lesson - Return of serve drills</image:title>
<image:caption>The objective of this lesson is to focus on hitting the correct return of serve. This involves making decisions on when to be aggressive with the return and when to be less aggressive to get to the kitchen The return of serve is the most important shot because a failed return of serve will lead to the loss of a point. However, a passive return may not be the best option to put the return team in greater control of the point. This lesson focuses on the key concepts. A neutral return of serve is one that places the return deep in the center of the court with relatively low pace. It is expected that the serving team wil be able to return this with a third shot drop or drive. Generally the return team will hit this ball by the player with the best shot from their strongest side e.g. the forehand for a right handed player.. A more aggressive return is to hit with greater slice to keep the ball low. This shot would typically be hit by making contact inside the baseline, and can be hit if the ball does not have a high bounce form the serve. It can be hit deep in the court, and can be effective as an approach shot to get to the net. Since this shot is hit faster, then there is less time to get to the kitchen. However, the serving team has to hit from a lower position and is likely to hit a slow third shot drop. If executed correctly, then getting to the kitchen should not be an issue. The most aggressive shot is an attack on the weak player. The goal of this shot is to force a weak return by rushing the servers shot. It must be targeted at the weak side of the player. However, if the weak side of the weak player is down the middle it will be difficult to force the error. This shot is typically executed on a shout serve when the ball can be struck thigh-high Length of drill: 2 minutes on each type of return = 6 minutes 4 minutes with pro feed = 10 minutes Demonstration of each return type. Setup: The group is divided into two groups. Ideally with an odd number. However, with 6 players then 4 should be on the return box and the return. feed: This is a ball machine feed initially with the ball machine feeding a constant length. The ball should be set for a long “go-to serve” first. The returner should hit a safe shot to the middle The ballmachine should be set to a shorter serve so a slice can be practised. The ball machine should be set to a short serve with a higher bounce so the agressive shot can topspin The pro then does the feed with a variety of balls Don’t run through the ball, but don’t be stationary Move forward until the server makes contact Hit the ball at thigh-high Point scoring on targets 5 points for the agressive shot 2 points for the slice shot 1 point for the neutral shot -2 points for a miss</image:caption>

      <image:title>Texas Open 2022 - Texas Open Trip 2022</image:title>
<image:caption>RICH MOORE 970 214 2158 rmoore@mac.com The Texas PPA Open will occur in the first week of November. This is information on the “loosely” organized trip we have planned to make it to that event and Dreamland. I am hoping we will have a fun group of players that will be able to create lots of fun matches with each other. We can also get Air BandB , etc. when we know the numbers! The trip can be thought of as three mini-locations/phases. Pickleball Hall of Fame Championships (Dreamland/Dripping Springs) Dreamland (Dripping Springs) Texas Open (Dallas) Pickleball Hall of Fame Championships (Dreamland/Dripping Springs) The first part of the trip is the Pickleball Hall of Fame Championships in Dreamland. This will occur between October 28th and October 30th. registration for this event starts on July 1st! This is for anyone that wants to get in two tournaments. I don’t expect that we wil have a large group for this, but Tatyana and I wanted to play an event together, and this seems like the best one. Dreamland (The home of Mayor League Pickleball) For those not going to the Pickleball Hall of Fame (HOF) Championships, the trip is to Dreamland from October 31st to November 2nd. The main assembly place would be Fort Collins on October 28th. This would be some evening play for those that get there. There is NO requirement to be there. Others from other parts of the country can The group would leave early on Saturday, October 29th and make it all the way to Lubbock by late afternoon for some rec play together. The group would then head to Dripping Springs on Sunday October 30th. It will probably be possible to get some late games in at Dreamland as the HOF championship wraps up. Play at Dreamland will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (October 31/November 1/November 2). Wednesday will be the departure day to head to Dallas. Although that is really only critical if you have an event on Thursday November 3rd. Tuesday should be pickleball night in America! We will also try to arrange a pro clinic Since Dreamland is close to Austin, I expect that trips to non-pb things in Austin may be on the table! But once we know the numbers we can get a Dreamland schedule together. Texas Open This is the main event! There will be pro events all the way from Thursday ending up in championship Sunday! The most critical thing here is that registration has started. So if you want to play any events, then this is decision time. This will be in Rockwall (Dallas) at the AMAZING Oasis Tennis Club. Here is the overview schedule Friday, October 28th: Pickleball HOF @ Dreamland OR Fort Collins, CO Saturday, October 29th: Pickleball HOF @ Dreamland OR Lubbock, TX Sunday, October 30th: Pickleball HOF @ Dreamland OR Dreamland Monday, October 31: Dreamland (Clinic) Tuesday, November 1: Dreamland (Pickleball Night in America) Wednesday, November 2: Dreamland (leave for Dallas in late afternoon) Thursday: November 3: Texas Open @ Oasis Tennis Club, Rockwell Friday: November 4: Texas Open @ Oasis Tennis Club, Rockwell Saturday: November 5: Texas Open @ Oasis Tennis Club, Rockwell Sunday: November 6: Texas Open @ Oasis Tennis Club, Rockwell Monday, November 7th: head home!</image:caption>
